History

Bracken farm was originally purchased by the Hill family in the 1920’s, producing primarily agricultural crops on a few hundred hectares. In 1959, current shareholder Martin Hill took the reigns and expanded into Forestry and Sawmilling.

Our Timber Process

Bracken Timber uses approved forestry practices, protects young growth as much as possible and only logs when ground conditions are fit. We are affiliated with Forestry South Africa (FSA), Sawmilling South Africa (SSA), and are FSC® (Forestry Stewardship Council®) C005849 and SABS Certified. Dedicated and passionate staff

In addition to our Board of Directors, Bracken Timbers boasts a loyal and efficient team of approximately 1500 employees from our surrounding community where unemployment rates are high. At the heart of our operations, we remain a community-orientated business, focused on permanent job creation.
